The Ultimate Anniversary Gift: Space Travel
Oct 28th, 2007 by Renee Michaels
You’re wracking your brains to figure out what to give for an anniversary gift that no one’s given before. Well, if you have a spare $500,000 lying around, you can sign up you and your loved one for the Founder’s Flight team of Rocketplane Global, Inc.’s maiden suborbital space flight in 2008. They claim to want to make space travel convenient and affordable for space enthusiasts, but I think the “affordable” for your average Jane and Joe will come many, many moons later. The standard rate after the inaugural flight will be $200K and if you want to sit next to the pilot, pony up another $50K. But hey, we’re talking thrill of a lifetime here! You didn’t really want to buy that house now, did you? Or send your kids to college? Fuggedaboutit. They can become Internet entrepreneurs: you don’t need a college degree for that, lol! Space.com has more info about the XP Spaceplane progress and what your $250,000 gift per person is gonna buy you.
If you’re looking for a more down-to-earth adventure (dollar-wise, that is) you can still receive the adrenalin rush of a life time flying an MiG-29 or Russia’s most advanced high-altitude interceptor, the MiG-31 Foxhound. Incredible Adventures has a full menu of high adventures: be the star in your own Hollywood Top Gun movie, dive with sharks or dolphins, go on an African safari, take space flight training, sky dive, choose one of their covert op training or air combat adventures. They have tons more that will blow your mind but not your wallet–some are around the $3500-$5000 range. Certainly doable and you’re guaranteed to receive all the thrills and chills your nervous system can handle. Their motto: “Life is either an incredible adventure or nothing at all.”
It’s not only men who love xtreme adventure. When they started back in 1993, their first client who signed up to fly an MiG-29 was a female investment banker from New York. And be sure to check out Ivy’s blog, a mom who loves wakeboarding and lives her life to the fullest. And if a 60-something couple can celebrate their 37th anniversary by going sky diving for the first time in their lives…well, what are you waiting for…when are you going to double-dare your mate?
