50 Years of Love and Marriage
“She was the most special thing in my life and still is,” says Donald Joye about his wife Phyllis, with whom he’s shared 50 years of married bliss. How incredible is that!
They met in junior high and it was love at first sight. They secretly married while still in high school and somehow managed to keep their marriage secret (their parents had figured it out anyway, but approved and also kept their secret) so they could graduate and Phyllis could still be the homecoming queen. She never had a wedding dress, but had her prom dress altered to fit for their 50th wedding anniversary celebration. Read their fairy tale love story here.
Women and Men: It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World, No?
First off, I fell off the wagon with blogging. My life took one of those sudden 180 degree turns, unfortunately, right in the middle of the Week of Positive Blogging, which I couldn’t finish. I had to make some major life decisions, drop everything and turn my 100% focus on them. Ah, life is what happens to you while you’re busy making other plans. Sometimes it’s “yay” and other times it’s “nay.” The nice thing is that eventually, even out of a “nay” situation you can come up with some “yays.”
Married Romance: Does Your Marriage Have It?
Do you no longer use marriage and romance in the same sentence? Keeping it new isn’t the easiest thing to do and it comes more easily for some couples than others. If you’ve let things slide and it’s getting to you, time to take action. There’s a saying “be the change you want to see in the world, ” so just change “the world” to “your marriage.” It might have taken you years to get out of the habit of being romantic, but it doesn’t have to take you that long to get your love connection going again.
Your Romantic Ideas
Coming up with new romantic ideas isn’t easy once you’re married or in a long-term relationship and settled into your “routine.” Ah, the sweet bliss of every day married life, no ups and downs, no spending time wondering about those love me, love me not blues or waiting for that phone call for the next date. But the day comes when you wake up and realize that there’s no surprises, no anticipation. It’s just the same ‘ol stuff. And that ain’t gonna cut it for the long haul. As Chris Rock said, “Keep it new or the relationship is through.” You want to get the magic back. You NEED to get that lovey dovey mojo workin’ again.
