positive love Out Of Many One People | Day 3Today’s theme is about some good news that has taken place in your city, community, etc. that has happened in the last 3 months.”

“Out Of Many One People” is the national motto of Jamaica, whose population is predominantly of African, European, Indian and Chinese heritage. Look at the family album of any Jamaican and you will see a heritage that spans the world. This is what inspired today’s post about the small townhome and condo community I live in that is a microcosmos of the world: babies to seniors; families, couples and singles; black, white, Asian, Latin and Indian; Christian, Jewish, Muslim and Hindu, renters and owners, both private and Section III. Pet lovers and pet haters, lol!

When I watch the news on TV (rarely, not for more than 5 minutes), I see only reports about the separations and differences between people, with little hope of reconciliation. Yet, there are communities throughout the world where people from all walks of life share a common existence, living quietly together, not making the news, being good neighbors and sharing their daily lives. Differences are acknowledged, respected and celebrated. I feel as Mes Deux Cents puts it, “There is love and happiness on this planet that goes severely under reported.

Seeds of love and joy liberally exist everywhere and this week of positive blogging is helping to turn my focus to such joy and love. As we get what we focus on, I look to inspirations such as Habitat for Humanity and Extreme Makeover: Home Edition where entire communities are involved helping their neighbors.

There are no strangers, only neighbors. Invite someone in your community to share a cup of tea and get to know each a littler better. See if you can help someone out—maybe an elderly neighbor is under the weather and would appreciate it you could pick up a few things from the store for them. Maybe start a “community coffee social.” Spread the love.

Thank you! It was your theme for today that made me think about how I could be involved more with my neighbors. Some are friends, but there are so many I see and know nothing about. Very unlike where I grew up, where neighbors weren’t only the people living next door to you.

You have a good point about Jamaica. It is definitely a diverse place. The ideas you mentioned are good ones that I am going to look into doing here. Thanks.
